Meet your Hatter
Jennifer is the founder and maker at Nightshade Hat Co. based on Orcas Island in the San Juan Archipelago of Washington state. Born and raised in Alaska and transplanted to the PNW, her love for hats was born out of necessity from years of working outdoors as a sea kayak guide and gardener where sun protection was crucial. As her personal collection of hats grew over the years she was drawn to the craft and spent years studying, gathering supplies and honing her skills as a hat maker. In spring of 2023 she finally launched Nightshade Hat Co.
Her commitment to the craft shows in her meticulous attention to detail, utilizing centuries old techniques and tools, creating one of a kind pieces. Wether it is a ready to wear or custom made, each hat is created with the finest quality materials available. There's no manufacturing, big machines or assembly lines here. Just one gal in a little studio in the woods, on a tiny island in the PNW. When she is not busy filling custom hat orders her full time job is as a landscape manager, maintaining fruit orchards and ornamental, flower and vegetable gardens on a private estate.
Bespoke
We offer custom and ready to wear hats made with 100% fur felt. Working from the perspective of "slow fashion", each piece is made by hand. Hand shaped. Hand sewn. Handled with love.
